1. RE: The Cleanup hitter

In 90% of cases, I'd say the best home run hitter. But he needs to have at least a decent batting average as well. A guy hitting .220 with 40 Home Runs should not be batting 4th. 5th would probably be better. However, these circumstances are rare, but happen, which is why I said 90 and not 100.

Someone once told me that in the 3 spot you need an RBI man, in the 4 spot you need a homerun hitter, and in the 5 spot you need a slugger.

#4 should have at least an avg of .250-.260 and be one of your top 2 HR hitters

"Someone once told me that in the 3 spot you need an RBI man, in the 4 spot you need a homerun hitter, and in the 5 spot you need a slugger."Statistically speaking, it has been shown that your best hitter period goes in the #4 slot. I know a lot of people say that that should be the #3 slot, but there are some good mathematical models out there to back it up. So, I tend to gravitate towards best hitter period there (unless there OBP is amazing and they have some speed, then they can move to the top 2 spots). Do you find this valuable? |
